Forget about the rainy weather in Chicago this week – we’re heading out to Ballast Point Brewing Co in sunny SoCal 😎
We’ve had a great relationship with Ballast Point and their Chicago Market Manager Jorge Cordoba for several years now, and we were stoked about the opportunity to sell two really incredible takes on their classic styles for this week’s Beer Drop – High West Barrel Aged Victory at Sea and Unfiltered Sculpin.
The timing for this feature couldn’t be more on point as we approach the May opening of Ballast Point’s Chicago Brewpub in the Fulton Market ‘hood. Since it’s right down the street from our offices, let’s just say they might have some regulars from day one…
Read on for my Q&A with Jorge, and be sure to grab this bottle while it lasts – cheers!
Featuring an eclectic blend of old, new, and hard-to-find, we’ve been cooking up something special for this week’s Beer Drop with our friends over at New Belgium Brewing Company!
It doesn’t get more classic in craft beer than Fat Tire, and we’ve also recently added NB’s brand new Juicy Hazy IPA from their Voodoo Ranger Series to our regular lineup. However, the real stars of the show are these 500ml bottles from the Wood Cellar Reserve Series, and we’ll be among the few retailers carrying the Single Foeder (Foeder = think giant barrel) Oscar No. 65 and Single Foeder Felix No. 61.
New Belgium has long been a leader in the craft industry, and I remember studying their employee-owned model in a Business Administration class in undergrad. Pretty incredible in today’s beer world! Read on for a conversation with my good friend Laine Berndt, Chicago Beer Ranger and proud employee owner, and pick up these tasty offerings while you can!
If you’ve been following along, we’ve been doing The Beer Drop for a little while now – since April 2017 to be exact (woo!) – and so we wanted to cook up something special for you guys with this week’s 40th feature!
You may have noticed that the past 39 drops haven’t included this Foxtrot staple – one of the most vital members of the Chicago craft beer scene (and Illinois’ largest independent craft brewery) – so this week’s big 4-0 was the perfect time to make it happen! We’re proud to present Revolution Brewing’s Straight Jacket Barrel-Aged Barleywine from their highly sought after Deep Woods Series.
Read on for my Q&A with brewery founder Josh Deth, where we chat Straight Jacket, Revolution’s origins and the next big beer trend – cheers!
